Overview
Executive Summary
Inspiration Mining Corporation (“Inspiration Mining” or the “Company”) is a public junior mining company that trades on the Toronto Venture Exchange under the symbol “ISM”. The Company is exploring for polymetallic, massive sulphide deposits on its Jasper property on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, nickel deposits on its Langmuir property near Timmins, Ontario as well as gold-copper on the Barton Syndicate Dry Fork property (“Dry Fork”) in Utah.
Langmuir Property: Inspiration Mining acquired the Langmuir property in November 2004, which includes the Langmuir #1 and Langmuir #2 mines with past production of 101,132 tonnes grading 1.74% nickel and 1,133,750 tonnes grading 1.45% nickel, respectively. Inferred resources totalling 1,017,400 tonnes grading 1.38% nickel remains in the Langmuir #1, #2, South and North zones of the property. Other zones such as the Emergency Tailings Pond and mineralization along strike from the Langmuir #1 deposit remain to be explored.
Based on these facts, Inspiration Mining believes that the Langmuir property has not been exhaustively explored, leaving room for the discovery of additional zones of massive, net-textured and disseminated nickeliferous sulphide mineralization.
Jasper Property. The Jasper property contains numerous surface showings and resides in a similar geological setting as the nearby mine at Myra Falls where current production comes from several volcanogenic massive sulphide (“VMS”) deposits with reserves to date of 35 million tonnes grading 2.1 grams of gold per tonne, 49.0 grams of silver per tonne, 1.8% copper, 0.5% lead and 6.1% zinc with current resources estimated to be greater than 10 million tonnes.
Inspiration Mining’s 1995 field exploration program on the Jasper property consisted of geologic mapping, rock, soil and stream sediment sampling. Significant results from the rock chip sampling program returned values of 70 parts per billion gold, 4.0 grams of silver per tonne, 3,410 parts per million copper, 15 parts per million lead and 7.88% zinc over 0.3 metres and 120 parts per billion gold, 6.0 grams of silver per tonne, 5,150 parts per million copper, 1,015 parts per million lead and 6.67% zinc over a width of 0.5 metres. Also at that time, rock chip sampling of a massive sphalerite showing outcropping in a logging road-cut at the Pan Road Showing returned values of 4.6% copper, 17.4% zinc and 17.2% lead over 2.0 metres.
Inspiration Mining’s 2004 Phase I exploration program commenced in May. Rock chip sampling was conducted on 14 known mineralized showings hosted in a large alteration zone with a strike length in excess of four kilometres. Values from 36 samples taken from 13 of the showings range between 0.4% to 7.8% copper, 2.0 to 37.0 grams of silver per tonne with zinc values up to 5.3% and gold grades of up to 0.35 grams of gold per tonne. Soil geochemical surveys have found highly anomalous copper soil values to be present. Approximately 25 samples taken ranged from 640 to 15,000 parts per million copper; six samples ranged from 800 to 10,000 parts per million zinc; and, 10 samples ranged from 900 to 10,000 parts per million lead.
Based on historical exploration programs and the programs conducted by the Company, Inspiration Mining believes the Jasper property offers excellent exploration potential for the discovery of a series of clustered, VMS deposits similar in nature to the Myra Falls VMS deposits.
Dry Fork Property. The Dry Fork property is located about 6.4 kilometres north-northwest of Kennecott Corporation’s Bingham Canyon copper-gold-molybdenite mine and 600 metres southwest of Kennecott’s past producing Melco gold mine. Historical metals production from the central and southern portions of the Bingham mining camp is recorded as being approximately 3.0 million tons of copper, 51.5 million ounces of gold, 1.4 million tons of molybdenite, 565 million ounces of silver and 1.0 million tons of zinc.
Northeast trending faults associated with the Melco and Barneys Canyon gold deposits project into the north central part of the Dry Fork property. Sediment hosted gold mineralization at the Melco and Barneys Canyon mines are best described as Carlin-type deposits. Pre-production reserves at Barneys Canyon were calculated at 8.6 million tonnes grading 1.64 grams of gold per tonne and 2.8 million tonnes grading 2.4 grams of gold per tonne at Melco. In the period 1988 to 2001, production from the two mines totalled 1.4 million ounces of gold.
Based on the proximity to past gold mining activity and the analysis of all mines and mineral occurrences in the Bingham area, Inspiration Mining believes the Dry Fork property is located within the resistivity low zone approximately 300 metres wide that is interpreted as a zone of alteration possibly hosting economic gold mineralization.
